                    Market Purchase of Company's Own Shares


Notification is given that pursuant to the authority granted at an Annual
General Meeting on 8 April 2002 to make market purchases of the Company's own
shares, a market purchase of 350,000 ordinary shares of 5p each in the capital
of the Company was made today at a price of 53.00p per share.


Following the purchase and cancellation, 203,843,359 ordinary shares will be in
issue.
