Company Update

On 22 October 2012, the Company announced that it was conducting a review of its investment management arrangements and indicated that the Board intended to consult with the Company's major shareholders if significant changes were proposed as a result.  Following that announcement, the Board, through its advisers, Winterflood Investment Trusts and Mercer, considered 26 separate proposals.

The Board is in the process of finalising a short list of candidates, including Henderson Global Investors, the Company's current manager.  The Board expects to have concluded its review by the end of the year at the latest and will then consult with shareholders on its preferred option. It is expected that the Board's preferred option will include a substantial return of cash at close to NAV.

At least two of the shortlisted candidates have already indicated that their proposals would involve a substantial return of cash at close to NAV.  One of these proposals has the committed support of shareholders representing a material proportion of the Company's shares.

The Board recognises its duty to meet the needs of the Company's shareholders as a whole and will continue its review process with that in mind. The Company will make further announcements in due course.
