                     Purchase of Shares For Cancellation


Schroder AsiaPacific Fund plc announces that on 14 September 2001, the Company
purchased 240,000 shares for cancellation, at a price of 47.00 pence per
share. Following the purchase, there are a further 139,195,505 shares in
issue.
