                    Substantial Share Interest Notification


The Company was notified on 23 August 2005 that as at 18 August 2005, Barclays
plc had a notifiable interest, through legal entities listed below, in 4,386,298
ordinary shares of 10p each in the Company, being 3.15% of the 139,218,088
shares in issue.


The details of the legal entities are as follows: Gerrard Ltd, 2,209,832 shares;
Barclays Private Bank Ltd, 24,500 shares; Barclays Bank Trust Company Ltd, 4,768
shares; Barclays Life Assurance Co Ltd, 256,825 shares and Barclays Global
Investors Ltd, 1,890,373 shares.  The shareholdings are held through various
nominee accounts.
