Holding in Company

On 26 November 2007, the Company announced that Credit Agricole Cheuvreux International Ltd ('CACI') had notified that it held 55,965,129 ordinary shares in Sainsbury's, equivalent to 3.21% of the voting rights in the Company as at that date. It has recently come to the attention of the Company that a further notification from CACI was sent on 26 November 2007 but not received which indicated that CACI no longer held a notifiable interest in Sainsbury's ordinary shares.

No subsequent notifications have been received by Sainsbury's from CACI.
