The Board of Safestore is pleased to announce the appointments of Claire Balmforth and Bill Oliver as independent Non-executive Directors.

 

Claire Balmforth will be appointed on 1 August 2016 and she will chair the Board's remuneration committee. Bill Oliver will be appointed on 1 November 2016 and he will become a member of the remuneration and audit committees of the board.

 

Claire Balmforth has been Group HR Director of the Priory Group since July 2014. Previously, Claire was at Carpetright Plc where she served as Group Human Resources Director from 2006 and as Operations Director UK from 2011. She also served as its People and Customer Director. She began her career in Selfridges, and has worked in many retail businesses including Tesco and Boots and has experience in the B2B sector with RAC plc.  

 

Bill Oliver is a Chartered Accountant with over 30 years' experience with residential and commercial development companies such as Alfred McAlpine, Barratt and The Rutland Group. Bill joined St Modwen Properties PLC in 2000 as Finance Director and was subsequently appointed Managing Director in 2003 and Chief Executive in 2004. He is retiring from this role in November 2016. Bill is also a Member of the advisory board of the Government's Regeneration Investment Organisation.

 

The Board has been notified that after seven years' service to the Board, Keith Edelman will be stepping down from his position as a Non-executive Director of Safestore on 31 December 2016.

 

Pursuant to Listing Rule 9.6.11, the Company announces the changes detailed below to the membership of its Board Committees from 1 August 2016, with Bill Oliver's participation effective from 1 November 2016:

 

The Nomination committee chairman is Alan Lewis with Ian Krieger, Keith Edelman and Jo Kenrick as members. The Remuneration committee will be chaired by Claire Balmforth with Ian Krieger, Jo Kenrick, and Bill Oliver as members. The Audit committee chairman is Ian Krieger with Keith Edelman, Jo Kenrick, and Bill Oliver as members. 

 

 

Alan Lewis, Safestore's Chairman, said:

Bill's significant commercial and financial experience, particularly in property matters, makes him well qualified to provide a significant contribution to the Group's further development. "

 

In accordance with the Listing Rules, there are no additional matters that would require disclosure under LR 9.6.13 R (1) to (6) in relation to Ms. Balmforth or Mr. Oliver's appointment.
