Inclusion in Dow Jones Stoxx Index

Ryanair Holdings PLC 28 February 2000 RYANAIR included in Dow Jones STOXX index The DOW JONES STOXX index has announced the inclusion of Ryanair Holdings plc from Monday, 20th March 2000. Ryanair's elevation is a reflection of the carrier's hugely increased market capitalisation based on the stock markets' view of the trading performance and future growth prospects of Europe's leading low fares airline. Ryanair now operates 43 low fare routes across 11 countries and is the UK's second largest carrier. The airline has a market capitalisation of 2.26 billion Euros and is among the most profitable airlines in the world. Ryanair is yet again flying in the opposite direction to loss making flag carriers worldwide and ironically the promotion of Ryanair coincides with the departure of KLM from the index. Ryanairs' market capitalisation currently exceeds not only that of Dutch flag carrier KLM (1 billion Euros), but also that of Scandinavian flag carrier SAS (1.5 billion). Commenting today, (Sunday, 27th February 2000), Howard Millar - Director of Finance at Ryanair said: 'Inclusion in the Dow Jones STOXX index will raise the profile of Ryanair even further and make it a very attractive investment for institutions worldwide as many European institutions are precluded from investing in 'small' companies and this new accreditation enhances Ryanair's marketability even more. 'This is very welcome news for our most important shareholders - our team of 1,300 people who have made Ryanair the success it is today and they can all look forward to even more rewards from the company wide share option scheme, which was one of the first such scheme to be introduced by an Irish PLC.'
