Notification of change in shareholding of substantial shareholder

The Company received notification on 8th November 2000 in accordance with the
Companies Act 1985 (as amended) that as a result of recent purchases, Prudential
plc now have a notifiable interest in 21,921,489 Ordinary Shares of 10p each of
the Company ('Shares') which represents 5.05% of the total issued share capital
of the Company.

The Company is informed that the Shares to which this notification relates are
