DIRECTORS INTERESTS IN SHARES IN EC PLC

We were advised on 13 April 2000 that on 6 April 2000, the manager of a
discretionary single company personal equity plan in the name of Mrs S J
Cotterill, the spouse of Mr RCG Cotterill, the Company's non executive
Chairman, acquired 5 ordinary shares of 10 p each in the Company (being less
than 0.01% of the issued share capital of the Company).  Mrs Cotterill was
advised of this purchase on 10 April 2000.

The purchase price per share was 603 p.  Mr Cotterill's total beneficial
holding following this acquisition is 22,426 shares (being less than 0.01% of
the Issued Share Capital of the Company).
