Electrcomponents plc Long Term Incentive Plan

The Company was informed on 6 January  that Electrocomponents Employee
Trustees (Jersey) Limited, trustee of the discretionary trust established to
facilitate the operation of the Electrocomponents plc Long Term Incentive Plan
purchased 70,000 shares at 674 p per share on 5th  January and 110,000 shares
at 673 p per share on 6th January 2000,  together representing less than 0.1%
of the issued share capital of the Company .  225,676 shares are now held by
the Trust, which represents less than 0.1% of the issued share capital of the
Company.

As potential beneficiaries of the Trust, Mr JL Hewitt and Mr RA Lawson,
executive Directors of the Company, are considered to have an interest in the
shares held by the Trust.  No awards to either Director under the Long Term
Incentive Plan are being made at this stage.
