1988 Executive Share Option Scheme

The Company has been informed that on 30 July 1999, Mr Robert Lawson, Chief
Executive of Electrocomponents plc, exercised the following options to acquire
ordinary shares of 10p each in the Company:-

                  Number of Shares         Option Price per Share

                     67,760                        125.10p

Mr Lawson has sold 67,760 shares (being less than 0.01% of the current issued
share capital) at a price of 532p per share to provide funding for structural
repairs to his newly acquired property in Oxford.

Following these transactions, Mr Lawson holds 258,558 ordinary shares of 10p
each in the Company (being less than 0.01% of the current issued share
capital).
