Sir Colin Chandler to Maintain Active Role

Following the acquisition of Vickers plc by Rolls-Royce plc, 
Sir Colin Chandler, the former Vickers Chairman, has expressed a preference
for an active role assisting in the future of Vickers Defence Systems, rather
than take up the invitation from Rolls-Royce to join the Rolls-Royce plc board
as a non-executive director.

Rolls-Royce, as the owner of Vickers Defence Systems, recognises that 
Sir Colin's expertise will be of much value to that business and welcomes his
continuing support.
