Rolls-Royce PLC 20 June 2001 Paris -- 20 June 2001 ROLLS-ROYCE WINS $240 MILLION REGIONAL JET ENGINE BUSINESS Rolls-Royce today (20 June 2001) announced AE 3007 engine business worth up to $240 million for two American regional airline customers. American Airlines' subsidiaries Trans States Airlines and Chautauqua Airlines have purchased up to 60 AE 3007-powered Embraer ERJ 140 aircraft. These new aircraft will join their existing fleets of Embraer regional jets. Trans States Airlines, located in St Louis, Missouri, has placed 10 ERJ 140s on firm order with options for a further 25 aircraft. The first aircraft is scheduled for delivery mid-2002. Indianapolis-based Chautauqua has selected 25 ERJ 140s on option. Mike Terrett, Managing Director, Airlines, for Rolls-Royce, said: 'Strong market acceptance of Embraer's 37-50 seat regional jets has ensured that the AE 3007 is now one of our fastest growing engine programmes. Customers benefit from excellent operating economics and unmatched flexibility, a combination that has led to the deserved popularity of this programme.' Firm orders and options for the 8,000lb thrust AE 3007 now total 1600. It is the sole engine on Embraer's 37-50 seat regional jets comprising the ERJ 135, ERJ 140 and ERJ 145. The engine also powers the new Embraer ECJ Legacy, the Cessna Citation X business jet and the Brazilian SIVAM military surveillance aircraft. A growth version of the engine has been developed for the Northrop Grumman Global Hawk unmanned surveillance aircraft, winner of the 2000 Collier Award.
