Rolls-Royce plc today announced that John Cheffins, President of Civil
Aerospace, has been appointed to the Board as an executive director with
effect from 1 January 2001.

John Cheffins has been a member of the Group Executive since 1998. He is a
director of International Aero Engines AG, Rolls-Royce Capital Limited,
Pembroke Group Limited, Data Systems & Solutions LLC and Eurasas.
