Rolls-Royce PLC 8 April 2002 8 April 2002 ROLLS-ROYCE SIGNS US$530m CATHAY PACIFIC TRENT CARE AGREEMENT Rolls-Royce has signed a Total Care agreement worth US$530 million with Cathay Pacific for maintenance of the Trent 700 engines powering the airline's fleet of Airbus A330 aircraft. Mike Terrett, President Civil Aerospace, Rolls-Royce, said: 'Demand for our Total Care services continues to grow as customers experience the practical benefits of features such as predictable maintenance costs. Over 40 per cent of all Trent engines in service are covered by Total Care packages.' Rolls-Royce aftermarket and services revenues have grown by 50 per cent over the last five years, and increased by six per cent in 2001. Cathay Pacific became launch customer for the Trent 700 on the Airbus A330 in 1995 and currently operates 20 of the wide-bodied twinjets. The airline's Trent 700-powered fleet has flown more than 450,000 hours, with the lead engine approaching 20,000 hours. Cathay is one of 22 Trent 700 operators - the largest A330 customer base of any engine manufacturer. Rolls-Royce power in the Cathay fleet also includes RB211-524G/H-T engines on Boeing 747-400s, and Trent 800s on the airline's Boeing 777 twinjets. Cathay will shortly take delivery of three leased A340-600s for which the Trent 500 is the sole powerplant.
