Rolls-Royce PLC 6 July 2000 ROLLS-ROYCE WINS $49 MILLION REGIONAL JET ENGINE ORDER Rolls-Royce plc, the aerospace, defence, marine and energy company, today announced business worth up to $49 million for engines to power nine Embraer RJ 145 regional jets purchased by Polish airline LOT. The airline is converting six options from a previous order and placing an additional order for three new aircraft. Carmen Lloyd, President - Corporate and Regional Airlines, Rolls-Royce, said: 'This order continues our excellent relationship with LOT and demonstrates their confidence in the Rolls-Royce powered ERJ 145 regional jet.' The announcement increases the number of firm aircraft ordered by LOT to 15. The airline initially ordered six firm aircraft with six options in February, 1999. Today's announcement brings the total value of business announced by Rolls-Royce plc so far this year to more than five and a half billion dollars. Background information: * Firm orders and options for both the ERJ 145 and ERJ 135 now total 1,053. * The 7,600 lb thrust Rolls-Royce AE 3007 engine is the sole powerplant for the ERJ 145 aircraft, the 44-passenger ERJ 140 and the 37-passenger ERJ 135. * The Rolls-Royce AE 3007 engine fleet has accumulated more than 1.5 million flight hours since entering service in 1996. * Rolls-Royce AE 3007 turbofan engines have been designed to meet the stringent requirements of the regional airline industry, while also meeting the strict sound and emission limits required of tomorrow's regional airline fleet. * The engine is part of the Rolls-Royce AE common core family of engines that includes the AE 1107 turboshaft and AE 2100 turboprop, where all utilise the same power core.
