Rolls-Royce PLC 25 July 2000 ROLLS-ROYCE ENGINE ORDER FOR NEW EMBRAER CORPORATE JET WORTH US$160 MILLION Rolls-Royce plc today announced it will power a new business aircraft by Embraer, the ECJ 135. The launch order, for 25 firm aircraft and 25 options from Swift Aviation Services, Inc. of Arizona, will be worth up to US$160 million in new engine business. With certification expected in the second half of 2001, the aircraft is targeted to charter supplemental lift and fractional ownership markets. The ECJ 135 will be powered by Rolls-Royce AE 3007A1 series engines. Carmen Lloyd, President - Corporate and Regional Airlines, Rolls-Royce plc, said: 'The Rolls-Royce powered ERJ series of regional jets has proven very successful. We look forward to working with Embraer on this new program, and we are pleased to welcome Swift Aviation Services to the growing number of operators flying AE 3007-powered Embraer jets.' Swift Aviation Services, an aircraft charter and fixed based operator (FBO) currently operates eight aircraft, including four Rolls-Royce AE3007C-powered Cessna Citation X business jets. Background information: - Firm orders and options for AE powered Embraer aircraft now total 1,206. - The 7,600 lb thrust Rolls-Royce AE 3007 engine is the sole powerplant for the 50-passenger ERJ 145 aircraft, the 44-passenger ERJ 140, the 37- passenger ERJ 135, the newly-announced ECJ 135, the Cessna Citation X and Northrop Grumman Global Hawk UAV. - The Rolls-Royce AE 3007 engine fleet has accumulated 1.6 million flight hours since entering service in 1996. - Rolls-Royce AE 3007 turbofan engines have been designed to meet the stringent requirements of the regional airline industry, while also meeting the strict sound and emission limits required of tomorrow's regional airline fleet. - The engine is part of the Rolls-Royce AE common core family of engines, which includes the AE 1107 turboshaft and AE 2100 turboprop, all utilising a common power core. The knowledge and maturity gained through the development of the common core approach enables Rolls-Royce to back the AE 3007 with industry-leading warranties and guarantees, ensuring excellent economic performance.
