Rolls-Royce PLC 23 May 2000 ROLLS-ROYCE WINS $30M ENGINE ORDER FROM JMC TO POWER BOEING 757 AIRCRAFT Rolls-Royce plc, the aerospace, defence, marine and energy group has won a $30 million order from JMC Airlines, the UK charter airline, to supply RB211-535E4 engines for two Boeing 757-300 aircraft. Manchester based JMC will be the first operator in the UK to operate the higher capacity version of the Boeing 757 and the fifth worldwide. To date, every customer for the Boeing 757-300 has selected Rolls-Royce RB211-535E4 engines. More than 1,100 RB211-535s are in service with 50 airlines throughout the world. Richard Smallwood, Senior Vice President - Airlines, said: 'JMC is among a rapidly expanding number of charter airlines enjoying the operational benefits of the RB211-535. Its robust design and low operating costs are particularly well matched to the exacting requirements of the sector. ' JMC will operate the Boeing 757s to a range of destinations throughout Europe from sixteen UK airports. The new aircraft deliveries are scheduled to begin in April 2001. JMC will operate a 28-strong fleet of aircraft this summer including 15 RB211-535-powered Boeing 757s and six Airbus Industrie A320s powered by V2500 engines, produced by the International Aero Engines consortium, in which Rolls-Royce is a major partner. Today's announcement brings the total value of business announced by Rolls-Royce plc so far this year to five and a half billion dollars.
