$480m New Regional Jet Engine Orders Won

Rolls-Royce PLC 28 January 2000 ROLLS-ROYCE WINS $480 MILLION IN NEW REGIONAL JET ENGINE ORDERS Rolls-Royce plc, the aerospace, defence, marine and energy group, today announced new business worth up to $480 million for AE 3007A engines to power Embraer RJ 145/135 regional jets purchased by Mesa Air Group, Inc. The order is for 36 firm aircraft with options for an additional 64. Aircraft deliveries are scheduled to begin during the first quarter of this year. Ian Aitken, Executive Vice President - Corporate and Regional Airlines, Rolls-Royce, said: 'Mesa has joined the growing list of regional airlines operating the AE 3007-powered ERJ 145 and ERJ 135 aircraft. Orders total more than 1000, as more operators realise the economic value of the Embraer airframe and Rolls-Royce engine.' Firm orders and options now total more than 690 for the ERJ 145 with deliveries totalling more than 176 aircraft. More than 322 firm orders and options have been received for the ERJ 135, which entered service in September. The 7,600 lb thrust Rolls-Royce AE 3007 engine is the sole powerplant for the 50-passenger ERJ 145, the 37-passenger ERJ 135 and the recently announced 44-passenger ERJ 140 aircraft. The AE 3007A1 utilises a new high-pressure turbine with advanced single-crystal airfoils and optimised cooling air. Mesa Air Group flies to 137 cities in 38 states, the District of Columbia, Canada and Mexico. The company operates as America West Express in the Southwest, US Airways Express throughout the East and Midwest, and independently as Mesa Airlines in New Mexico and Colorado.
