                 Tom Hodgson joins Board of NewMedia SPARK plc
                                       

NewMedia  SPARK  announces the appointment of Tom Hodgson to the  Board  on  2
August 2000 as a non-executive director.

Tom  Hodgson is Chief Operating Officer of GlobalNetFinancial, which he joined
in  November  1999.   From October 1997 to November,  1999,  Mr.  Hodgson  was
President  and Chief Executive Officer of Marathon Asset Management Inc.,  and
Marathon Mutual Funds, Inc. in Toronto, Canada.  From June, 1995 to September,
1997, Mr. Hodgson was executive director United World Colleges (International)
Limited.   From October 1993 to June 1995, Mr. Hodgson was a doctoral  student
in economics at Oxford University.

The company also announces the resignation of Ronald Koenig from the Board  on
2 August 2000.
