                               Trading Statement

Robert Walters plc issues the following trading update ahead of the announcement
of its interim results for the six months ending 30 June 2004.

Trading in second quarter 2004 has continued the positive trend announced at the
AGM on 13 May 2004. Net fee income for the first half of 2004 is expected to be
approximately £30 million, 18.5% above that achieved for the same period in
2003. This represents a slight improvement on the trend observed at the AGM.

The group plans to sustain current hiring levels of additional consultants, in
anticipation of a continuation of the improved market conditions.

The interim results for the six months ending 30 June 2004 will be announced on
7 September 2004 and a further trading update will be given at that time.
