Under the Companies Act 1985, Section 199(2a), we are writing to inform you that
as of 7 August 2003 the British Coal Staff Superannuation Scheme held 3,607,278
ordinary shares which represented 4.02% of the issued share capital of RM plc.


These shares were registered in the name of British Coal Staff Superannuation
Scheme (Chase GIS) Nominees Ltd.
