Successful Trial Plantation

Caldwell Investments PLC 08 May 2007 Caldwell Investments plc ('Caldwell' or 'the Company') Successful Trial Plantation The Board of Caldwell is pleased to update shareholders on the progress of its biodiesel feedstock project based in Brazil, as announced on 2 February 2007. The project has taken a further tangible step forward with the successful germination from mechanically planted seed of over 1,000 Jatropha tree saplings at Caldwell's first trial plantation in Northern Brazil. The purpose of the trial was to confirm that in the fertile conditions available in Brazil, the Company is able to cultivate Jatropha trees directly from mechanically planted seed without the need to invest in nursery facilities or buy in more expensive saplings. The Directors believe this successful trial confirms an important element of the Company's project to cultivate Jatropha plantations in Brazil in order to provide biodiesel feedstock for the European market. The Board of Caldwell emphasises that this project is still at a very early stage, requires further due diligence and is subject to a number of major uncertainties, including funding, recruitment of local management, access to suitable land and successful cultivation of a large scale plantation End.
