On Tuesday, 28 September 1999, RIT Capital Partners plc purchased 1,900,000 of
its Ordinary shares for cancellation at 350p per share.

After these shares have been cancelled, the issued share capital will be      
158,272,155 Ordinary shares of £1 each.
