SHAREHOLDINGS OF DIRECTORS AND PERSONS DISCHARGING MANAGERIAL RESPONSIBILITY
Rio Tinto plc was notified today that, on 4 August 2006, the Director, Mr Tom
Albanese, exercised options under the Rio Tinto Share Option Plan over 11,142,
12,382 and 11,296 Ordinary shares of 10p each, at prices of £8.20, £8.088 and
£9.654 per share respectively. He subsequently sold 20,455 shares arising from
these exercises at a price of £27,850788 per share.
As a result, Mr Albanese's beneficial interests in the ordinary share capital of
Rio Tinto plc are 41,181 shares and an interest in 4,449.95 shares in American
Depositary Receipts, representing 0.0043% of the ordinary shares in issue.
This announcement is made in accordance with the requirements of DR 3.1.4 R(1)
(a) and DR 3.1.4 R (1)(b).
