Rio Tinto plc has today been notified that, on 17 August 2006 in New York, the
following Directors and/or persons discharging managerial responsibility 
('PDMRs') as listed below acquired Rio Tinto plc ADRs at a price of US$211.935 
per ADR under the Rio Tinto America Inc Savings Plan.  This is a 
non-discretionary purchase.
