                               Board Appointment

Ricardo Plc, the UK's leading independent automotive engineering consultancy
announces that Steve Parker has been appointed as an Executive Director with
effect from 1 August 2002. Responsible to Rodney Westhead, Chief Executive,
Steve Parker will take on a new role as Managing Director, Strategic
Development.

Steve Parker, aged 49, joins from A T Kearney, one of the world's leading
managing consulting practices where he was employed as a Vice President in their
Global Automotive practice.  Prior to that, Steve has held a number of
management positions in the automotive industry.

In this new position at Ricardo, Steve will lead the development of new
complementary business streams reinforcing Ricardo capability to provide high
value added consulting to Ricardo's customers world-wide. In addition this role
will build on Ricardo's key automotive engineering and strategic knowledge.
There are no further details that are required to be disclosed under section
6.F.2 (b) to (g) of the Listing Rules.
