                     Substantial Shareholder Notification




The Company was informed on 10 August 2001 that Standard Life Investments
purchased 362,267 ordinary shares of 12.5p each in the Company ('Ordinary
Shares') on behalf of Standard Life Group and as a result of this purchase,
Standard Life Group now has an interest in 879,000 Ordinary Shares,
representing 3.7% of the Company's issued ordinary share capital. The
registered holder of the above interest is Stanlife Nominees Limited.
