                    The Restaurant Group plc ('the Company')



The Company announces the following transaction:


Mr Alan Jackson, Chairman, has today exercised options to subscribe for 400,000
ordinary shares in the Company at 45p per share and has then immediately sold
350,000 ordinary shares at 151.5p per share. Following this transaction Mr
Jackson now holds an interest in 319,774 ordinary shares in the Company.
