                              Dealing by Director

The Restaurant Group plc was advised on 5th April 2006 that Mr Alan Jackson, a
Director of the Company exercised 400,000 options to subscribe for ordinary
shares in the company, at 45p per share on 5th April 2006.

Following this exercise Mr Jackson has sold 400,000 ordinary shares at 205p per
share, also on 5th April 2006.

Mr Jackson's holding in the company remains unchanged at 334,242 shares.
