AGM Statement

City Centre Restaurants PLC 5 June 2001 CITY CENTRE RESTAURANTS PLC AGM STATEMENT At the AGM City Centre Restaurants plc held today, Alan Jackson, Chairman, made the following comments on current trading: 'The Group has had a encouraging start to the year and continues to benefit from the restructuring which commenced in February'. 'The Group is continuing to explore opportunities to dispose of a number of brands that are considered to be non-core to the Group's strategy going forward. The Company will update Shareholders when practicable.' 'Performance is steadily improving across the Group as a whole with some notable successes. Caffe Uno is showing much improved performance with like for like sales increasing from a negative 5% in January to a positive of 2% in May. Frankie & Benny's continues its strong growth track record with like for like sales up 5% and Garfunkel's, including its Airport locations, has a 1% like for like increase through this period. Over the last few months, Est Est Est has undergone extensive change and this brand is now showing encouraging signs of recovery.' 'Along with other leisure industry operators, we are concerned that numbers of foreign tourists visiting London are lower than expected. However, we are confident that this is being offset by an increased number of UK visitors into London and higher levels of custom at leisure parks over recent months benefiting Frankie & Benny's in particular.' 'In addition, a number of changes have taken place at Board level over the last few months. I am delighted to welcome Andrew Page as Group Finance Director and Andrew Thomas as a Non-Executive Director to the Board. Both Henry King, our former Chairman, and Michael Williams Jones retire from the Board today and the Group would like to thank them for their contribution.' 'The Directors are confident that the Group has the management direction and strategic focus in place to continue to deliver an improved performance. I envisage the rapid re-establishment of City Centre Restaurants as a significant and credible operator in its chosen markets.' 5 June 2001 ENQUIRIES: City Centre Restaurants plc College Hill Alan Jackson, Chairman Justine Warren Andrew Guy, Chief Executive Matthew Smallwood Tel: 020 7747 7750 Tel: 020 7457 2020
