Retirement- Non-Exec Director

Renishaw announces that Mr Leo Brook, after many years' service, has retired
from the Board, with effect from today, 17th October 2000. Therefore, he will
not be seeking re-election at the company's annual general meeting on Friday
20th October 2000.

The Board is enormously grateful for his substantial contribution to the
progress of Renishaw over the 20 years in which he has been a non-executive
director.
