                      Shanks Group plc Board Appointment


Further to the announcement made on 30 May 2001 regarding the appointment of
Mr P Delaunois to the Shanks Group plc Board, the following information is
detailed below:

Mr Delaunois is Chairman of Mosane sa and CFE sa, he is also a director of
Union miniere sa which are all listed on Euronext Brussels stock exchange. He
is a director of Banque Bruxelles-Lambert sa which has been listed on the
Brussels stock exchange. Within the last five years he was a director of
Cockerill-Sambre sa which was listed on the Brussels stock exchange. In
addition there are no details to be disclosed under paragraph 6.F.2(b) to (g)
of the Listing Rules.
