REC expands product offering launching new REC ...

Sandvika, December 8, 2010: REC today launched their first building integrated photovoltaic (BIPV) solution combining the high performing REC Peak Energy Series Module and the proven Solrif installation system developed by Ernst Schweitzer AG. The REC Peak Energy Integrated Solution is designed for building in-roof solar systems that combine the reliable power output of REC solar modules with the proven Solrif installation system. The solution is both weatherproof, and aesthetic, fitting directly into the roof replacing conventional building material. The product can be used for new roofs or for retrofit purposes. "Starting with the REC Peak Energy Integrated we are diversifying our product portfolio to provide tailor made solutions to better meet the needs of our customers in the residential and commercial markets", said Åsmund Fodstad, Senior Vice President, Sales and Marketing, REC Solar. On the market for more than ten years with several MW already installed, the quality and flexibility of the aluminum Solrif Frame is well established. The low profile height results in good rear ventilation, supporting efficient electrical performance and can be easily combined with several roofing materials. The system can be installed easily and quickly just like roof tiles. The design supports drainage of rainwater and the sliding off of snow so that modules produce the maximum amount of power in all weather conditions. "The REC Peak Energy Integrated is a solid investment for customers in the residential and commercial segments. Users can benefit from the highest feed- in-tariff available in France with this solution. We are glad to expand our product offering in a market that is such an important growth area for REC", said Jan Jacob Boom-Wichers, Managing Director, France, Benelux, UK and Ireland, REC Solar France. The BIPV solution uses the frameless REC Peak Energy Module which delivers more power per square meter due to several design improvements resulting in approximately seven percent improved energy output compared to earlier generation modules. REC Modules have consistently outperformed other manufacturers in Photon field performance tests measuring energy yield in 2010. The modules have a robust and durable design, supporting a large mechanical load. The new product is TUV certified. The REC Peak Energy Integrated is available in France for purchase now and will soon be offered in other markets in the first quarter of 2011. REC plans to increase production of the REC Peak Energy Integrated and to expand this BIPV product range. REC partners in France were recently trained on the solution and the company will support the training of additional installers.
