                                  Board Changes
                                        

It is with deep regret that Northgate plc, the leading commercial vehicle hire
company in the UK and Spain, announces that its Chairman, Mr Martin Ballinger,
has advised that he wishes to retire from the Board on the grounds of ill health
with immediate effect.


Under Martin's Chairmanship Northgate has continued to grow strongly and his
leadership and personal contribution will be greatly missed.


Philip Rogerson, Senior Independent Director will take over as Chairman with
effect from today on a temporary basis. The Nomination Committee will manage the
process of finding a permanent replacement and a further announcement will be
made in due course.
