Reckitt Benckiser PLC 29 November 2000 29 November 2000 Reckitt Benckiser: Appointment of Chairman Designate The Board of Reckitt Benckiser plc today announced the appointment of Dr Hakan Mogren as Chairman Designate. Dr Mogren will become Non-Executive Chairman in May 2001, succeeding Alan Dalby who, as previously announced, retires at the conclusion of the Annual General Meeting. Dr Mogren is appointed a Non-Executive Director and joins the Board of Reckitt Benckiser plc with immediate effect ensuring a smooth transition over the next 6 months. Dr Hakan Mogren is, and will remain, Deputy Chairman of AstraZeneca PLC having been President and Chief Executive Officer of Astra AB from 1988 until the merger with Zeneca Group PLC in 1999. He has played a leading role in the integration of the two businesses, helping ensure that AstraZeneca has met the ambitious goals set at the time of the merger, increasing its share of the global pharmaceutical market. AstraZeneca PLC has group sales of £11.4bn, a current market capitalization of £61bn and employs more than 50,000 people worldwide. Prior to Astra AB, he was President and Chief Executive Officer of AB Marabou 1977-88, a leading European food group ultimately sold to Philip Morris. He is also Non-Executive Vice-Chairman of Gambro AB and a Non-Executive Director of Investor AB. Dr Mogren is also Chairman of the Research Institute of Industrial Economics. Dr Mogren, 56, is a Swedish national, resident in London. He is a graduate of the Royal Institute of Technology, Stockholm, and is a Doctor of Science in Biotechnology. He is married with two children.
