                  QUARTO STRENGTHENS ART PUBLISHING BUSINESS



The Quarto Group, Inc, the London-based international publisher, announces
that it has made new management appointments to its art publishing businesses.



In Australia, Clifford Posner, a well-known figure in the industry, has been
appointed to run the business. His business, Geometrics, is being acquired by
Quarto's Australian art publishing business.



In the United States, John Bridgewater, who previously ran the luxury
houseware brands, Lalique and Boda, in the US, has joined as President of the
Art Publishing Group.



Laurence F Orbach, Quarto's Chairman and Chief Executive, stated 'Book
publishing and publishing services continue to perform very well, and we hope
that our art publishing business improves dramatically with these new
appointments.'



Notes for editors:



Quarto's art publishing business, which is part of its Publishing Division,
publishes art images, mainly for their domestic markets, and from US and
Australian locations.



The larger of Quarto's two divisions is the International Co-edition
Publishing Division, which primarily creates books for publication
internationally by other publishers.



Although a Delaware registered corporation, Quarto's Head Office is situated
in Islington, London N7 and its shares are fully listed on the London Stock
Exchange.
