Reference price for scrip dividend alternative to 1999 interim dividend

Prudential plc announces that the reference price for the fully paid extra
shares to be issued to shareholders who elected for the scrip alternative for
the 1999 interim dividend, is 1003.4 pence per share.  This price is
calculated in accordance with the terms of the circular to shareholders dated
11 October 1999.

At this price a total of 511,782 extra shares will be allotted.

Application is being made for the extra shares to be admitted to the Official
List.  It is expected that such listing will become effective and that dealing
in the extra shares will commence on 25 November 1999.
