Operations Update

Testing of Coal Waste for Potential New Project in UK

 & Final Stages of Engineering Tests in Munich

PowerHouse Energy Group plc, (AIM: PHE) an alternative energy business specialising in the sale of waste to energy systems, announces that it is currently conducting a new series of trials using a feedstock composition of coal waste (coal fines) sourced from a mining site in the UK. This testing is being conducted using a Pyromex ultra high temperature gasification (UHTG) reactor in Munich, Germany.

The trials are expected to determine the conversion efficiency, energy value of the produced gas and the overall system's performance for conversion of an environmentally hazardous material into a clean energy product.

Subject to satisfactory completion of these trials and finalisation of commercial agreements, the proposed UK-based project would progressively convert a waste coal deposit of many hundreds of thousands of tonnes into electricity, using a Pyromex UHTG system coupled with conventional electrical power generation plants.

The zero emission residual-free conversion of coal waste into syngas for use as a fuel to generate electrical power is an important and environmentally sustainable development outcome of an otherwise undesirable coal by-product.

Additionally, the Pyromex plant in Munich, Germany is in the final stages of its trial period and engineering test programmes. To date the results of trial operations have been encouraging and it is anticipated that final tests which include extended operations on a range of feedstocks and higher temperature cycles will be completed by the year end.

The Company expects that following satisfactory continuous operations, the installation phase for the electrical power generating plant to supply power to the German electrical grid will be commenced shortly thereafter.
