Market Purchase of Company's Own Shares

Notification is given that pursuant to the authority granted at the Annual
General Meeting of the Company held on 23rd July 2003 to make market purchases
of the Company's own shares, market purchases of 4,700,000 and 750,000 ordinary
share of 25p each in the capital of the Company were made today at a price of
152p and 153p per share respectively.  Following this purchase and cancellation
there will be 136,916,288 shares in issue.
