Appointment of Independent Non-Executive Director

The Board of Polar Capital Global Financials Trust plc is pleased to announce the appointment of Miss Cecilia McAnulty as an independent, non-executive director, such appointment to become effective on 1 November 2021.

Miss McAnulty has over 20 years' investment experience. Having started her financial services career as a qualified Chartered Accountant, Cecilia went on to be an investment analyst followed by Head of Structured Finance for Royal Bank of Scotland and a director of principal investing for Barclays Capital. Most recently her executive career was as Portfolio Manager and Executive Director of Centaurus Capital with particular focus on investing in special situation equities, distressed debt and high yield bonds.

Cecilia is an independent non-executive director and the Audit Chair of Northern 2 Venture Capital Trust PLC which invests private equity in early-stage companies; and is also an independent non-executive director to a number of private companies including Alcentra Ltd, an asset manager focussed on sub investment grade credit and wholly owned by BNY Mellon. She is also a member of the Industrial Development Advisory Board which gives advice to HMG on grant assistance to companies which promote the UK's industrial strategy. Cecilia has a wealth of detailed knowledge of financial services and brings recent and relevant investment and financial accounting experience to the Board.

Robert Kyprianou, Chairman, commented " We are delighted that Cecilia has agreed to join the Board. As was indicated in my last Chairman's Statement, this is the first step in a programme of managed succession which will see the original Board members complete their tenure. We undertook a full recruitment process and were fortunate to have some incredibly talented candidates to select from. We look forward to working with Cecilia over the coming years. It is intended that Cecilia will succeed Joanne Elliott as Audit Chair when Joanne steps down from the Board at the AGM to be held in April 2022."

A resolution proposing the election of Miss McAnulty as a non-executive director will be put to shareholders at the next Annual General Meeting of the Company due to be held in April 2022.
