Pittards plc announces that the Pittards Employee Share Ownership Trust
purchased 29,259 shares in the Company at a price of 50 pence per share on 6
April 2004. The Pittards Employee Share Ownership Trust is now interested in
1,089,637 shares in the Company, representing approximately 4.93% of the issued
share capital.

The main potential beneficiaries in the Trust are executives of the Company
awarded shares under a restricted share plan and long term incentive plan and
include JWW Pittard, JH Buckley, RH Hankey, SR Johnson and R Paisley, who are
directors of the Company.
