New Chairman appointment at Pendragon

Mel Egglenton has been appointed as chairman designate of motor retail group, Pendragon, to take up the role at the close of the AGM on 22^nd May 2013, succeeding Mike Davies, who will retire from the Board and as Chairman at the 2013 AGM after eight years as a non-executive director.

Mr Egglenton joined Pendragon in December 2010 as an independent non-executive director. He is a chartered accountant and a former partner in KPMG LLP.  As a member of KPMG's Board he chaired that firm's UK Audit Committee and subsequently also occupied the role of UK Senior Independent Partner.  Mr Egglenton is also non-executive director of and adviser to a number of private companies in the UK. He is considered by the Board to continue to be independent.

Mike Davies said:  "I am delighted that I am handing over the role of Chairman to Mel, who has brought both energy and valuable insight in his role as a non-executive director.  His extensive experience in advising both public and private companies in a variety of sectors, notably retailing as well as automotive and property, is a considerable asset to the company going forward. His sound understanding of Pendragon and our sector mean he is well-placed to lead the Board as Pendragon continues to develop and work to our strategy."

Mel Egglenton said:  "Pendragon has valued Mike's guidance and leadership throughout his time on the Board, during a period of considerable development and change for the company. The Board wishes him well in his chosen future activities.

An external search for a successor to Mr Egglenton as an independent non-executive director and chairman of the company's Audit Committee is under way. A further announcement in that regard will be made in due course.
