Transaction in own shares

SOCO announces that on 21 December 2012 it purchased 50,000 of its ordinary shares at an average price of 347.9675p pence per ordinary share.  The highest price and the lowest price paid for these shares were 349.7pence and 344.1pence respectively. All the purchased shares will be held as Treasury shares.

Following the above purchase, SOCO holds 9,122,268 ordinary shares as Treasury shares. The total number of ordinary shares in issue is 331,832,047 (excluding ordinary shares held as treasury shares).
