Transaction in own shares

SOCO announces that on 24 November 2011 it purchased 83,700 of its ordinary shares at an average price of 287.461 pence per ordinary share.  The highest price and the lowest price paid for these shares were 291.8 pence and 281.225 pence respectively. All the purchased shares will be held as Treasury shares.

Following the above purchase, SOCO holds 686,200 ordinary shares as Treasury shares. The total number of ordinary shares in issue is 339,853,252 (excluding ordinary shares held as treasury shares).
