SOCO International plc (the 'Company')

The Company was notified yesterday that, following the purchase on 10 October
2000 of 350,000 ordinary shares of 20p each in the Company ('Ordinary Shares')
at 120p per share, Pontoil Intertrade Limited is now interested in 6,480,813
Ordinary Shares, representing 9.373 per cent. of the issued share capital of
the Company.

The Company has been notified that Pontoil Intertrade Limited is party to an
agreement for the purposes of section 204 of the Companies Act 1985 and is
therefore deemed to be interested in the Ordinary Shares held by all other
parties to that agreement.  Following this purchase, the combined holding of
those parties, of which the Company has been notified, comprise 19,408,058
Ordinary Shares, representing 28.07 per cent. of the issued share capital of
the Company.
