Screen PLC 7 February 2002 Thursday 7th February 2002 SCREEN PLC: Board and Senior Management Appointment Screen Plc ('Screen' or 'the Company'), a leading provider of advanced security and communication systems, announces an important addition to its main board and a senior management appointment. Major General Tim John Sulivan CB CBE BSc (aged 55) has been appointed to Screen's main board as a Non-executive Director with immediate effect. The appointment follows the Company's move into the defence industry with the acquisition in December 2001 of Joyce-Loebl Group Ltd, an established supplier to this market. Tim Sulivan's successful military career included many different domestic and international responsibilities, culminating in a number of key appointments at the Ministry of Defence, including being Chief Executive of the regional infrastructure organisation that introduced a £900M PFI project. Other notable positions included leading the development of the Army's Strategy for the 21st Century and serving as the only non-US member of General Schwarzkopf's strategic planning team during the Gulf War. His knowledge and experience of both military and administrative operations, together with the management and implementation of high value projects, in the UK and internationally, are key skills in markets seeing significant growth as governments allocate more resources to security and defence spending. Tim Sulivan has quickly established himself in the commercial sector where he holds a number of executive positions, including developing business strategy at BCD Modelling Ltd, a start-up computer modelling company and planning operations & logistics for Land Securities Trillium Ltd. As Vice President for Customer Relations with General Dynamics (UK) Ltd, he is responsible for the company's customer relations with the Ministry of Defence on the £1.7 billion 'Bowman' battlefield communications project. Tim Sulivan has never previously held any directorships and there are no matters required to be disclosed pursuant to paragraph F of Schedule 2 of the AIM rules. Commenting upon the range of skills that Tim Sulivan brings to Screen, Owen Williams, Chairman of Screen said: 'In addition to Tim's many high-level contacts within the Ministry of Defence and the military, his experience in briefing and working with senior government representatives will be a valuable addition to the talent Screen is assembling to support its operating businesses. One of the major responsibilities of this position will be to ensure that the range of products assembled by Screen through acquisition and development achieves greater visibility in both UK and international defence markets.' Appointment of Chief Technology Officer Following the successful integration of recent acquisitions into four main market facing businesses focused on: Emergency Services; Security & Surveillance; Transport; and Defence, the board considers that effective selection and deployment of the Company's technologies will be a critical determinant in the Company's future success. To oversee this responsibility Mr. Malcolm Wright has been appointed as Group Chief Technology Officer ('CTO'), a new position in the Company. Formerly Chief Executive of Pentyre Ltd (acquired by Screen in July 2001), Malcolm has knowledge and experience gained from over 30 years working in Electronics and Information Technology. With a Degree in Electronic Engineering, his career includes Weapons Systems R&D with a major international defence contractor, 10 years at IBM as a Systems Engineer/Manager and 2 years as a Director of an international software house. Malcolm Wright's primary objectives will be to oversee current and future investment in products and technologies, including all R&D activity, as the Company seeks to ensure optimum returns from its IPR. Commenting, Claes Bergstedt, Chief Executive of Screen said: 'The appointment of Malcolm Wright as CTO will provide us with a set of skills and experience that will considerably enhance our ability to support and manage the technology aspects of our growth strategy. It also continues our policy of ensuring that we have access to the skills and specialist knowledge needed to succeed in our chosen markets, whilst allowing us to focus on continuing integration and operational support of our businesses.'
