Screen PLC 17 July 2002 For Immediate Release 3:55pm 17 July 2002 Board Changes Screen Plc ('Screen' or 'the Group'), a leading provider of advanced security and communication systems, announces the appointment of Dr Geoff Carswell as an executive Director, with immediate effect. Dr Carswell, aged 56, has been Managing Director of Screen's subsidiary, Joyce-Loebl Ltd, ('Joyce-Loebl') since 1999. Now an important component of the Group, the business is one of the UK's leading suppliers of specialist technology to the Transport and Defence sectors, in the UK and Internationally. Joyce-Loebl is the Group's largest acquisition in the UK to date, and was acquired in December 2001. At the same time, Screen also announces the resignation from the Board, and as Chief Executive, of Mr Claes Bergstedt. Mr Bergstedt joined Screen in August 2001, prior to its acquisition of Joyce-Loebl. Mr Bergstedt, whose initial responsibilities were to drive the continuing success of Screen's mobile data products, leaves by mutual consent. Screen anticipates announcing in September results for the six months ended 30th June 2002 broadly in line with market expectations. His successes at Joyce-Loebl have taken Screen into the important Defence sector and strengthened its presence in Passenger Mass Transport, two high growth markets for the Group's existing products and services. The organisation, following the appointment of Dr Carswell, results in shortened reporting lines and greater visibility to what is now a key part of our business.' Under the Petards brand, Screen provides security surveillance solutions, wireless & video technologies and specialist software development & integration to its primary markets of the Emergency Services and Local & Central Government. The Joyce-Loebl brand provides passenger information systems, in-seat entertainment and onboard CCTV security solutions to the Transport market. For the international defence market, Joyce-Loebl provides electronic warfare systems, fighting vehicle electronics and rugged communications and IT solutions.
