Director's Shareholding

The Company was informed on 29 September 1999 that earlier that day Mr I H
Leslie-Melville, a Director of the Company, bought 50,000 Ordinary Shares in
Persimmon at 221p per share.  Following this acquisition Mr I H
Leslie-Melville (and family) is interested in 171,250 Ordinary Shares
representing 0.09 per cent. of the issued share capital of the Company.
