            Appointment of David Thompson as Non-Executive Director

Persimmon plc is pleased to announce the appointment of David Thompson as a
Non-Executive Director with immediate effect.  David Thompson is Managing
Director of The Wolverhampton & Dudley Breweries, PLC.

He is also a Non-Executive Director of Gartmore British Income & Growth Trust
plc.
